Exponent Alternatives: Other Ways to Prep for PM and Tech Roles

Exponent is now Aced (tryexponent.com redirects to aced.io). For alternatives, choose by role: Hello Interview for system design and coding courses with live practice, interviewing.io for paid mocks with experienced engineers, Huru for free AI mocks in any role, and an AI speaking partner such as Speaking Coach for the behavioral and product-sense talking.

Exponent is now Aced

As of October 2026, tryexponent.com redirects to aced.io, whose pages say "formerly Exponent". The bundle is the same idea: interview courses by role, peer mock interviews, and paid coaching. Courses listed include product management, software engineering, system design, data science, machine learning, data engineering, engineering management, TPM, product design and more, each with a certificate of completion. Peer mocks are free with monthly credits; AI feedback and transcripts need a paid membership. Coaching is sold as 60-minute sessions, and its page says most people book three to five.

If you're looking for an alternative because the brand changed, you may not need one. If it's cost, depth in your role or format, read on. We make Speaking Coach, which covers only the spoken, non-technical parts of these interviews; we've listed it only where it fits.

By budget

Free. Aced's own peer mocks with monthly credits. interviewing.io's AI Interviewer for coding and system design, which its FAQ calls free. Hello Interview's free learning tracks for system design, coding, low-level design, ML system design and behavioral. Huru, which says it is free for job seekers, for AI mocks in any role.

Under $100. Hello Interview's paid plans were shown at $47 for a month or $89 for a year, with 1, 2 or 4 live practice sessions depending on plan.

Premium. interviewing.io's human mocks start at $179 per interview, per its FAQ. Aced coaching sessions are priced on its pricing page. Final Round AI's Pro plan, listed from $25 a month, includes practice interviews, but its main feature is a live copilot for use during real interviews, which we don't recommend.

The part every course under-trains: saying it out loud

Courses teach frameworks. Interviews test whether you can say a framework clearly with someone interrupting you. A PM can know a prioritization method cold and still ramble for four minutes before naming a user. A data scientist can know the right metric and still freeze at "Why that one?"

That part is cheap to practice:

  1. Pick one question per day from your course or our product manager or data scientist lists.
  2. Answer out loud in under three minutes, with a timer.
  3. Have something push back. A peer, Huru, or Speaking Coach, whose voice interviewer reads your CV and the job post, follows up on what you said, and afterwards shows pace, filler words and long pauses with tips quoting your words.
  4. Redo the weakest minute, not the whole answer.

For consulting-style product questions, the structure in our case interview guide transfers well.

What Aced still does better than the alternatives

  • One place for many roles, including less-covered ones like TPM, solutions architect and BizOps.
  • Role-specific frameworks with worked examples.
  • Peer mocks across PM, coding, system design, behavioral and finance in one tool.

If you need all three, keeping Aced and adding cheaper speaking practice may beat switching.

Questions people ask

Is Exponent the same as Aced?

Yes. As of October 2026, tryexponent.com redirects to aced.io, and Aced's site says "formerly Exponent". Pramp sessions also moved there.

What is the best Exponent alternative for system design?

Hello Interview focuses on system design with free tracks and paid plans that include live practice. interviewing.io offers system design mocks with experienced engineers, plus a free AI Interviewer.

Is there a free alternative for PM interviews?

Aced's own peer mocks have free monthly credits, including product management. Huru offers free AI mock interviews for many roles. Practicing product questions out loud with a friend also works well.

Are Exponent courses worth it?

They're broad and role-specific. If you also need coaching or peer practice, the bundle can make sense. If you only need one role and one format, a narrower tool may be cheaper.

Does Speaking Coach do coding or system design?

No. It's for spoken practice: behavioral stories, explaining your thinking, presentations and conversations, in 20 languages.
