Best Free Interview Practice Tools in 2026: What Works for $0?
For a free AI mock interviewer, Huru says it is free for job seekers with unlimited mocks. For a free human mock, Aced (formerly Exponent, now including Pramp) gives monthly credits for peer interviews. To check how an answer sounds, Speaking Coach's free voice review in ChatGPT allows two reviews a day in English, and the tools on this site run free in your browser.
Every free option, with its real limit
"Free" often means a trial. These are the tools we found that you can keep using at no cost, checked on each tool's own site in October 2026. We make Speaking Coach, so two of the entries are ours; we've put them in the same table with the same honesty about limits.
| Tool | What you get for $0 | The limit | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Huru | Spoken AI mock interviews with follow-ups and a scored debrief | Its site says free for job seekers, unlimited mocks, no subscription | Behavioral interviews, in five languages |
| Aced peer mocks (formerly Exponent; Pramp is now part of it) | Live video mock with another candidate, about 30 minutes each way | A monthly allotment of credits; AI feedback and transcripts need a paid plan; not on mobile | PM, coding, system design, behavioral |
| interviewing.io AI Interviewer | An AI that simulates a large-tech-company interview | Free; human mocks start at $179 | Coding and system design |
| Yoodli Starter | AI roleplay sessions | 5 sessions, for life | Trying it before you pay |
| Speaking Coach in ChatGPT (ours) | Voice review of your recorded answer: pace, fillers, pauses, quoted feedback, one change | English only; two reviews per network connection per day, subject to shared capacity | Checking how one answer sounds |
| orecci.com tools (ours) | Speech checker, filler word counter, pace checker, questions by role | No AI feedback; runs in your browser | Measuring and practicing alone |
The tools in more detail
Huru: the most free AI practice
Huru's site describes a live AI interviewer that asks follow-up questions, with three pressure levels, 5 to 20-minute sessions, 240+ roles, and the option to paste a job description. Each answer gets a score out of 100 and a stronger version to compare with. It says it's free for job seekers, with the only paid plan sold to organizations and universities. It has a web app and an iOS app. If you only try one tool on this page, try this one.
Aced peer mocks: free practice with a person
You're matched with another candidate for a live video call and take turns interviewing each other. The value is that a real human reacts, gets bored, and asks the odd question. The limits: free users get a monthly allotment of credits (the page doesn't say how many), AI grading needs a paid membership, and mock interviews don't work on a phone. Pramp now runs through Aced, so old Pramp users need an Aced account.
interviewing.io's free AI Interviewer
Its FAQ lists a free AI Interviewer that covers coding and system design. The paid product, anonymous mocks with engineers from top companies, starts at $179 per interview. For software engineers, the free AI is a reasonable warm-up before deciding whether a paid human mock is worth it.
Speaking Coach in ChatGPT: free voice review
Open ChatGPT, type "@Speaking Coach", and record or upload yourself answering a question. You get your measured pace, filler words and pauses, feedback that quotes what you said, and one change to try; then you can record again and compare. You can add a CV or job post as background text. It works in English only, gives two reviews per network connection per day, and doesn't assess accent or pronunciation. It reviews an answer rather than playing a live interviewer; that's in the paid phone app. More on the ChatGPT app page.
The free tools on this site
These run in your browser, and Speaking Coach's servers receive nothing:
- Interview answer review: answer a question out loud, then see your words per minute, filler words, long pauses and transcript.
- Interview questions by role: pick your job and get its practice questions.
- Filler word counter and pace checker, for one habit at a time.
They're measurements, not AI feedback: they won't tell you whether your example was convincing.
What happened to Google Interview Warmup?
As of October 2026, Interview Warmup's old address on grow.google redirects to a general interview-tips article. That article suggests simulating a conversational interview with Gemini Live in the Gemini app instead. Google's Gemini Live page doesn't say whether it's free, noting only that some features need a subscription.
Not free, despite appearances
- Big Interview lists $39 a month or $299 lifetime, with a 30-day money-back guarantee. That's a refund policy, not a free plan.
- The Speaking Coach phone app has no free tier; new subscribers may get a free trial.
- Many apps say "Try it free" and mean a 7-day trial that renews automatically. Set a reminder if you start one.
A $0 interview prep plan for one week
- Day 1: Pick your role in the questions by role tool and choose the five questions you dread most.
- Day 2: Answer each out loud in the interview answer review. Look at your pace and fillers, not just the words.
- Day 3: Do one Huru mock on the standard setting.
- Day 4: Rework your weakest answer using the STAR method and get a voice review of it in ChatGPT. Use your second review on the retry.
- Day 5: Book an Aced peer mock, or ask a friend to interview you using your list.
- Day 6: One more Huru mock on the hardest setting.
- Day 7: Rest. Say your opening answer once, out loud, and stop.
Questions people ask
What is the best free mock interview tool?
As of October 2026, Huru offers the most free AI practice: its site says unlimited mocks for job seekers. For a human, Aced's free peer mocks are the main option.
Is Pramp still free?
Pramp is now part of Aced. Aced's peer mock interviews are free with a monthly allotment of credits, and you need an Aced account.
Is Google Interview Warmup still available?
We couldn't find it. As of October 2026 its old address redirects to a Grow with Google article that points to Gemini Live instead.
Can I use ChatGPT for free interview practice?
Yes. The Speaking Coach app inside ChatGPT reviews your recorded answers for free, in English, two reviews a day. Our page on ChatGPT voice mode for interviews compares it with general voice chat.
Are free tools good enough?
For most behavioral interviews, yes, if you use them consistently. Paid tools mainly add convenience, more feedback, or a human expert for a specific company's process.
