Best Mock Interview Apps in 2026: Which Ones Are Worth Using?

For behavioral and general interviews, pick an AI interviewer that asks follow-ups: Huru is free, and Speaking Coach reads your CV and the job post on your phone in 20 languages. For coding, system design or PM rounds, practice with people on Aced (formerly Exponent, now home to Pramp) or interviewing.io. Big Interview suits people who want a video course plus recorded practice.

What separates a useful mock interview from a question list

A list of questions is free everywhere. What you pay for, in money or time, is the part a list can't do:

  • Questions about your real experience. If the app reads your CV or the job post, it asks about your last project, not a generic "tell me about a challenge".
  • Follow-ups. Real interviewers dig: "What did you do, not the team?" "What would you change?" Most people's answers fall apart on the second question, not the first.
  • A phone app. You will practice more if you can do it on a walk or in the car before the interview.
  • The right round. Behavioral questions and coding rounds need different practice. No single tool does both well.

We make Speaking Coach, which is one of the apps below. We opened each other tool's own site in October 2026 and state only what we saw there; where a site didn't say something, we mark it as "not stated".

The apps, one by one

Huru. A spoken AI interviewer with three named interviewers, three pressure levels (Supportive, Standard, Demanding) and sessions from 5 to 20 minutes. You can pick from more than 240 roles, paste a job description, or write up to five of your own questions. Each answer is scored on relevance, structure and more, and debriefs show pace and filler words. Its site says it is free for job seekers, works in five languages, and has an iOS app; Android users use the web app. Best for: the most practice for zero money, especially behavioral rounds.

Speaking Coach (ours). You add your CV, the job post or your notes, and the AI interviewer asks about your actual experience, then follows up on what you said. You choose Gentle, Realistic or Tough, and can say "I need a moment" or "Help me" if you freeze. Afterwards you see your pace, filler words, long pauses and tips that quote your own words, then retry the moment that went wrong. There is a 5-session plan for your interview day with a reminder the day before. It runs on iPhone and Android in 20 languages; your CV stays on your phone and only its text goes to the AI during interview sessions. It is built for spoken answers, so use something else for live coding. It's a subscription; see the App Store or Google Play for the price in your country.

Big Interview. A course as much as a simulator: 170 video lessons, learning paths, an answer builder and a Fast-Track module, plus recorded video practice with AI feedback on content, communication and body language. Its home page doesn't say whether it reads your CV or asks follow-ups. Prices on its site were $39 for a month, $99 for three months or $299 lifetime, with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Best for: people who want to be taught a method, or whose university already pays for it.

Aced (formerly Exponent). Free peer mock interviews: you're matched with another candidate on a video call, about 30 minutes each way. Tracks include product management, data structures and algorithms, system design, behavioral and finance. Pramp is now part of Aced. Free users get monthly credits, and AI grading of your transcript needs a paid membership. Mock interviewing isn't supported on mobile. Best for: tech and PM candidates who want a human across the table.

interviewing.io. Anonymous, voice-only mocks with engineers from large tech companies, focused on algorithms and system design. Its FAQ lists premium interviews from $179, with a refund if you're unhappy, and a free AI Interviewer for coding and system design. Best for: senior engineers preparing for a specific company's loop.

Yoodli. Mostly sold to companies now, but individuals can start free with 5 lifetime roleplay sessions. Its pricing page describes the individual plans as suited to interview prep without detailing an interview mode. Best for: people who also want presentation practice on the web.

Why we left out live interview copilots

Some tools listen to your real interview and show you suggested answers on screen. Final Round AI's home page, for example, describes an "AI interview assistant that gives real-time answers in live interviews". It also has a Practice Interview mode, so it isn't only a copilot. But we've left copilots off this list for two reasons:

  1. They don't make you better. Reading an answer during the interview doesn't build the skill you need for the next one.
  2. They can cost you the offer. An employer that notices hidden live help may treat it as cheating.

If you're moving away from one, see our Final Round AI alternatives.

What about Google Interview Warmup?

As of October 2026, Interview Warmup's old address on grow.google redirects to a general interview-tips article, which suggests practicing with Gemini Live in the Gemini app instead. We could not find the original tool there.

How to get the most from any mock interview

  1. Do one session cold, before you prepare. It shows you which questions you can't answer.
  2. Prepare stories for those questions, using the STAR method.
  3. Do two or three sessions on the harder pressure setting, if the app has one.
  4. On the day before, do one short, gentle session. Confidence matters more than new material now.
  5. For technical rounds, add at least one mock with a real person. Talking through code with a human is its own skill; our technical interview guide covers it.

Questions people ask

What is the best free mock interview app?

As of October 2026, Huru says it is free for job seekers with unlimited mock interviews, and Aced offers free peer mocks with monthly credits. Our free interview practice tools list gives the exact limit of each.

Can a mock interview app read my resume?

Some can. Speaking Coach reads your CV, the job post or your notes. Huru tailors questions to a job description you paste. Big Interview's home page doesn't say.

Are AI mock interviews as good as practicing with a person?

They're better for volume: you can do ten at midnight. A person is better at spotting what sounds rehearsed or unconvincing. Use AI for repetitions and a person at least once before an important interview.

Which app is best for coding interviews?

Aced's peer mocks and interviewing.io focus on coding and system design. Speaking Coach and Big Interview are built for spoken answers, not live coding.

Is using an AI copilot during a real interview allowed?

Usually it isn't disclosed, and many employers would see it as cheating. Practice tools are used before the interview, so that risk doesn't apply.
