Best AI Speech Coach Apps in 2026: Which One Actually Helps?
Pick by what you need the AI to do. To get a recording of yourself analyzed, Orai, Speeko and PowerPoint's free Speaker Coach are solid. For a partner who talks back, look at Speaking Coach, Yoodli or Huru (interviews only), and for pronunciation scores, ELSA Speak. Poised, the live meeting coach, posted that it was shutting down on 10/8/2026.
Four kinds of "AI speech coach"
The label covers tools that do very different jobs. Before comparing features, decide which of these you actually want:
- It analyzes a recording. You talk alone; the AI measures pace, filler words and similar things, then gives you a report.
- It plays the other person. The AI is your interviewer, audience or coworker, listens, and replies to what you said.
- It coaches you during real meetings. It runs on your computer while you are on calls.
- It scores your pronunciation. It compares how you say words with a target accent.
We make Speaking Coach, which belongs in the second group. We checked every other tool's own site or App Store page in October 2026 and state only what we saw there. Prices change, so treat them as a snapshot.

1. AI that analyzes your recording
This is the oldest and simplest kind. You speak, it counts.
Orai. Its App Store listing describes AI feedback on filler words, pace, clarity, energy, confidence and conciseness after each session, scripted or freestyle practice, transcripts and short lessons. English only. Best for five quiet minutes a day with a script.
Speeko. Its site says it tracks your voice in real time and reviews pace, filler words, intonation, sentiment, talk time and word choice, with 2-minute daily exercises, notecards and interview prompts. Best if you want a guided daily habit.
PowerPoint Speaker Coach. Microsoft's support page says it is in free preview for anyone with a Microsoft account. It gives on-screen guidance as you rehearse and a report afterwards: pace, filler words, reading your slides aloud and more, depending on the platform. It works only in English. Best when your talk is already in PowerPoint.
The limit of this group: nobody interrupts you. You can sound fluent alone and still stall when someone asks "Why?" The free speech review on this site does the counting part in your browser, without AI.
2. AI that plays the other person
Here the AI listens and replies, so you practice thinking while talking.
Speaking Coach (ours). An AI voice partner plays an interviewer who reads your CV and the job post, an audience that asks about the slides you uploaded, or a stranger who says hi. It follows up on what you said, and afterwards shows your pace, filler words, long pauses and tips that quote your own words, then lets you retry that moment. It has 23 built-in scenes, works in 20 languages and never rates your accent or personality. It is a subscription on iPhone and Android; see the App Store or Google Play for the price in your country.
Yoodli. Its site now speaks mainly to companies: roleplays scored against criteria, personas and integrations with Zoom, Teams and sales tools. Individuals still get a free Starter plan with 5 lifetime sessions, and Pro adds live AI roleplays and feedback on uploaded recordings. Best for teams, or for one person who wants a web tool.
Huru. A spoken AI interviewer that asks follow-ups, with three pressure levels and session lengths from 5 to 20 minutes. Its site says it is free for job seekers. Best for interviews on a zero budget; it does not cover speeches or small talk.
Vocal Image adds AI roleplay to voice training, and VirtualSpeech and Ovation put you in front of virtual audiences, in the browser or in VR. VirtualSpeech lists $45 a month for individuals; Ovation lists $15 a month billed yearly, with a 7-day trial.
3. AI that coaches you during real meetings
This group shrank this month. Poised ran on Mac and Windows and gave feedback during calls on filler words, hedging and how much you talked. In October 2026 a banner on its site read that it "is shutting down on 10/8/2026". We did not find a like-for-like replacement for individuals among the tools above: Yoodli's site lists Zoom, Meet and Teams integrations but doesn't describe live coaching on calls for individuals. If meeting feedback is what you need, our Poised alternatives page covers the options in more depth.
4. AI that scores pronunciation
ELSA Speak is the main one. Its App Store listing describes instant feedback on what you said, American, British and Australian accent choices, roleplays, and IELTS and TOEFL prep. It teaches English only. If you are a non-native speaker and want accent work, see our list for non-native speakers. Speaking Coach does not score pronunciation at all, by design.
How to choose in two minutes
- Write down the next real situation you will speak in: an interview on Thursday, a toast in June, Monday's stand-up.
- If someone will ask you questions, pick a tool from group 2. If you will speak uninterrupted, group 1 is enough.
- If you only need English and have no budget, start with PowerPoint Speaker Coach or Huru.
- If you need another language, check the language list first; most tools here are English only.
- Use whatever you pick at least three times before judging it. The first session mostly shows you your habits.
Questions people ask
What is the best free AI speech coach?
It depends on the job. As of October 2026, PowerPoint Speaker Coach is free for slide rehearsals in English, Huru is free for interview practice, and Yoodli's free plan gives 5 lifetime sessions. Speaking Coach's voice review inside ChatGPT is free, in English, with two reviews a day.
Is Poised still available?
In October 2026 its site showed a banner saying it was shutting down on 10/8/2026. If you used it for filler-word feedback, the apps in group 1 do that for practice sessions, though not during live calls.
Can an AI speech coach replace a human coach?
Not fully. AI tools are good for repetitions and for measuring things like pace and fillers. A human coach is better at judging whether your story lands and what to cut. Many people use an app between sessions with a person.
Do these apps judge my accent?
Pronunciation apps like ELSA Speak do, on purpose. Delivery tools like Orai and Speeko measure pace and fillers. Speaking Coach never rates your accent or personality.
Which ones work in languages other than English?
Of the tools we checked, Speaking Coach works in 20 languages and Huru in 5. Orai and PowerPoint Speaker Coach are English only, and Speeko and Yoodli don't list languages on the pages we read.
